 American Elsevier Monographs on AI

I have just accepted a proposal by American Elsevier to
edit a series of monographs on Artificial Intelligence. Our idea
is to make available in paperback and of low cost various
high quality research works that are either too specialized
or too short for textbooks but too long for, say, the AI Journal.
WHile it's true that we researchers often see these sorts of works
through our informal report distribution systems (and we are
beginning to ship things around over the ARPA net), these
luxuries aren't available to many students--especially those at
out-of-the-way places. I think the monographs will be quite
useful to students and will serve generally as a good publication
 medium for high quality work.

As far as I know the new series won't be com-
peting with any other established series. In fact many publishers
are shying away from monographs these days.

I would appreciate hearing from you about proposed titles.
If you have had a monograph of your own in the back of your mind
and want to bring it up to the front, please let me know.

 					Thanks,
 					Nils NIlsson

It turns out that somebody disassembled the font camera, so it'll have
to wait until I find someone who knows how to put it back, probably a
 day or two.
